Foreshadow
I have named this mosaic "Foreshadow" for two reasons: first, because the trees in the foreground are in shadow as the setting sun reflects off the outer wall of the Crater Lake caldera; second, because old growth Lodgepole pines, which dominate most areas of Crater Lake National Park, are dead and dying while Ponderosa pine and then red (white?) fir are succeeding.
Fires have been suppressed here since European settlers set stand-replacing fires in the late 1800s. The Park is going to burn big!
