A photo by W. Curth in John Gooders' "The Great Book of Birds," The Dial Press, NY, 1975, provided the model for the long-eared owl.

 

The twin-flower branches were copied from a taxonomy book of woody plants from E. Oregon, lost since lost to me. The background sprang from my imagination.
