Monet's Magpie

As winter gives way to spring, Monet’s magpie (from The Magpie) sits on a fence post at an elevation that is over one thousand feet higher than magpies currently range in the Rogue Valley of SW Oregon.

This work is meant to be an allegory about one response of mobile animals to elevated temperatures during the rapid shift from our current climate to that which is predicted to follow.

  • Exhibited in Congregational (Park) for ArtPrize 2014.

  • Now it is part of the permanent contemporary mosaic art collection in the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, Gaziantep, Turkey.
