WHY WOULD YOU WANT THIS?

Sometimes you are too close to the work to see what is happening. Maybe you are stuck on a piece and cannot quite see why. You may be developing a series, uncertain about direction, preparing a portfolio, or wondering why one work seems stronger than another. Sometimes another set of eyes can help you see what you have stopped seeing.

WHAT IS ROGUE REVIEW?

Rogue Review is a careful examination of your art: what it accomplishes, what may explain its effects and what to try next. It is not a critique based on whether I like your work, nor is it about telling you what to make. I look closely at what is happening in the work, what is working, what may be getting in the way, and which relationships or patterns appear significant.

The purpose is to give you useful information about your work so you can decide what to do with it.

WHAT DO I GET?

  • You will receive a written review explaining what I see, the evidence behind my observations, and what appears significant in the work.

  • Depending on your question, the review may identify strengths, problems, patterns or possibilities and suggest things you might consider or test.

  • For multiple works, choose separate reviews or reviews with synthesis. Both include an individual review of each work; synthesis also examines meaningful relationships, differences and recurring patterns across the group.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

  • One work — $45

  • Separate reviews: Two works — $85. Add $40 for each additional work, through ten works.

  • Reviews with synthesis: Two works — $110. Add $50 for each additional work, through ten works.

  • For more than ten works, we agree on scope and price after intake.

  • Not sure how many works you need reviewed? That is fine. We can decide after I understand what you are trying to find out.

You will know the total cost and expected delivery date before you pay or the review begins.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Start by telling me a little about your work and what you are wondering about. I will look at the information you send and, if necessary, ask a question or request an image that will help me understand what you need. Then we agree on the artwork to be reviewed, the question or focus, the price and when you can expect the completed review. Once we've agreed on those things, I will send an invoice. The review begins after payment. When it is finished, you will receive your written Rogue Review. Also, you will have seven calendar days to ask one clarification question about the review.

READY TO FIND OUT MORE?

You do not need to know exactly what kind of review you need.

Use the information form to tell me about your work, what you are trying to understand, and the question that is on your mind. The form will also explain what information and images are helpful for me to see.

Filling out the form does not commit you to a review. We will agree on the scope, price and delivery date before you decide to proceed.
